Simplified Pulse Diagnosis To Differentiate All Gastrointestinal Disorders
The relationship of liver, stomach and spleen determines almost all gastrointestinal disorders, and the precise relationship can be determined with simple pulse examination, reinforced with information from the tongue. In this short presentation, Jake Fratkin will share his 38 years of clinical experience to demonstrate a pulse diagnostic approach that allows an accurate differentiation of the various patterns leading to conditions such as acid reflux, nausea, irritable bowel syndrome, abdominal distention weight problems, constipation and diarrhea. The key is understanding the energetic relationships of liver, stomach and spleen.

We will also learn how to restore the correct flow of Qi in a way that minimizes shock and pain to the patient. This will include how to inform patients about emotional responses such as the possibility of injury recall when the scar tissue is needled, non-intuitive needle techniques for needling, and ways to confirm the flow of channel Qi has been restored after needling. Learning these techniques will provide you with increased confidence to treat stubborn conditions where scar tissues may be a silent contributor to disease.

Promoting Liver Detoxification by Regulating the Liver with TCM
Modern environmental toxins put an unnatural burden on liver detoxification, further compromising the kidney, lymphatics, digestive tract, and connective tissue. Detoxing the liver requires regulating the liver according to its TCM energetic make-up – qi, blood, yin and heat-regulation. The liver is truly the fulcrum for many diseases, involved in chronic fatigue, fibromyalgia, unusual skin conditions, food allergies, insomnia, emotional disorders, headaches, menstrual disorders, irritable bowel syndrome, and autoimmune processes. You will discover how readily available Chinese herbal products and formulas can restore the liver to health, and provide relief and cure for difficult cases. This class will also detail how environmental poisons impact healthy liver detoxification pathways, and include a discussion of useful nutritional approaches.
TCM Care for Our Aging Population
In March of this year, the US Census Bureau released its International Population Report. The “Big News” was that the growth of the world’s older population will continue to outpace that of the younger population over the next 35 years. In fact, before we reach the year 2020 the world will cross the threshold of there being more older people than younger people under 5. The need for proper care and nurturing of the aging population group is extremely important. The current trend in the health care system of today, is to manage aging by piling on layer after layer of medications on an as needed basis. We have all seen lists of patients in their 60’s with long lists of medications that they have been on for years. In this workshop Dr Chang will present treatment protocols, procedures and nutritional tips that can be implemented with this age group to reduce medication and improve vitality.
Scar Tissue Needling Techniques for Restoring FLOW
In this practice workshop, we will demonstrate real-time scar tissue needling. With demonstrations performed on volunteers attending the class, you will observe the nearly instant changes in Qi flow, and hear descriptions of the sensations volunteers experience. In addition, you will learn which needles to use, needle insertion methods, the angles and number of needles to use with different types of scars.
We will also cover in further depth why the sensations for patients will include a mental recall of the injury pain – not the needle sensation. This will empower you to prepare the patient for the types of releases that may occur when blockages from scars are removed and normal Qi flow is restored. After taking this workshop, you will have a number of practical techniques you can start using immediately.
